while i've apparently nothing witty to say now [trust me, this sentence took me approximately eight minutes to whittle down to this svelte [and humorless] beaut.], i can report that my absolute favorite asianesque post-rock band [don't read as world music, but rather stereolab high on capsaicin from a really good thai restaurant] macha is finally releasing their new album, forget tomorrow in two weeks on may twenty-fifth [even though the jetset site says august]. apparently you can head over to vh1 for a thirty second listens.
i've been immediately struck by a very new wavey vibe, and it's almost brazen poppiness. neither of which are bad things. in the mean time, i'll just be playing their excellent ep see it another way and their collaboration with bedhead [who, as the brother kadane, need i remind you, have a new record coming out under the new year moniker] cleverly titled: macha loved bedhead. "hey goodbye" is one of my favorite songs ever. and i know it's technically a bedhead song, but still...
moms and dads, when times are hard, do the best they can.
mine must have come from a long line of unfulfulled to get where they did.
when dad took the bus, he left three of us.not kind.

couple of posts all at once here. and nary a one that has to do with music. first, it's with great sadness that i pass on the word that webmonkey is [soon] no more. mebbe you didn't spend way too much time learning [x]html tricks and treats from their [formerly, i guess] great site, but i did. it's like... well, it's like losing yr much older brother to cancer [only with some kinda emotional detachment]. so... mebbe that metaphor doesn't quite work!
second, don't expect to hear a lot from me this week. i'm setting up home for [hopefully] two new websites. one that focuses on art and hopefully starts some really cool collaborative pieces. and another that, like this baby right here, focuses on music. that one will pretty much be like this one here, only with mp3s i think. oh yeah, and [since i'll be legit for the first time in my over 10 years online] i'll actually be posting a hella lot more.
i'm superpsyched about this. hopefully a lot more freedom in some really exciting ways that i can't talk about or i won't do them.

hey, cuties! where you been? me? oh, i've been around. just kinda hanging lately. a little busy trying to get a new site up and running, but honestly nothing much.
oh you called me? sorry, i've just been outta touch. really? not me. oh. well, actually i have found some cool links. well, you should really check out alan sparhawk's latest entry on the low log at chairkickers. he says the low compilation thingie is out in june. oh, just go read it. he says a lot more, but i'm not gonna spoil it for you.
and while yr at it... go check out julian gross' velcro mustache. it's completely fun. and probably pointless, if yr one of those people who thinks art has to "say" something. hey! i didn't mean you! i said one of those people. just go check it out. what? oh, it doesn't have a thing to do with liars at all. it's just something julian's doing on the site. no, really... it's totally worth yr time.
anyhow, i've got to go. don't be such a fucking stranger! oh, i won't. have fun! okay, bye!

okay... movable type offers a lot of things. but i've stayed up all night making one stupid template. and i come to find out that it doesn't affect all the archives and searches and... ACK! i'm off to bed shortly. more musiknoose next week.
'til then, here's a glimpse at what the design i've worked up is looking like:

hey, i'm thinking... well, planning, on moving to my own domain name soon and was just looking for good hosting recommendations. i'm in atlanta, georgia, if that makes a difference [where you live and all that]. i hate taking up a post with this, but i'm enjoying movable type so far and have been wanting to be able to post some mp3s from time to time [live ones that i find here and there on soulseek and the like]. moving to real hosting would be a major step in that direction. my only hesitation is that i've never done any hosting before and i don't wanna just go for the first good [looking] deal i see. so here's where you guys actually post comments and help me out. thanks!

looks like dave fridmann is producing the new low record, though there's no news about this on the chairkickers site. i'll let it slide though, since this is a kinda busy year for low what with a new new record on the heels of their singles/rarities compilation. apparently, this comp isn't terribly hyped since i can't find word of it on the general internet [other than this really old pitchfork blurb]. thankfully i'm on the band's semi-official email list, which you can read about on their website.
oh yeah, and there's a new version of iTunes out. not sure if i like it though. stupid arrows linking you to buy things from the iTunes music store when i already have the cd, 'cause duh i just ripped it!
oh yeah, too: i'm playing around with movable type on my home 'puter. just wondering if i could link to it through my ip address, if i'm online and all. anyone know how?

well, i put out the word for some joe walters pics. oh, don't act like you know the name. he's just the touring brass/guitarist/keyboardist for stereolab this year. mebbe he's even part of the groop now. who knows? it was like pulling very large loose teeth to even get his name. [yeah, that meant it was actually kinda easy.] it seemed like everyone at the atlanta show was snapping shots of this cute little bugger. [don't we wish, boys?] but search as i might online, there are hardly any pics of him to be found. and nothing when i use his actual name.
well, one, two, buckle my motherfucking shoe. i thought i'd just do one last quick google for "stereolab live pics" and BAM! a very thin motherlode. pablo chang has a red-eyed pic of joe. peripheral anomaly has two more. and here, for you people who actually care [because i do], is my selection of [stolen from the web] joe pics:

while none of these pics are particularly inspiring of joe [come on you breeder rock photogs out there, lets at least pretend that some of yr audience would recognize male attractiveness!], i do wanna thank the indie rock photo gallery for taking the most pics of joe. and i encourage everyone else out there who can snap off a pic of this cutie, please please please send me a copy. that means you, girl from savannah and guy with kinda auburny hair that was at the show with the guy who knew my best friend.
